The Alignment chart is important because it situates the goals or objectives of the course and the practical application or the way in which knowledge will be assessed. “Instructional design requires selecting, organizing, and specifying the learning experiences necessary to teach somebody something. Good instructional design is independent of the technology or personnel used to create those learning experiences.” (Horton 3) Instructional Objectives are important when working as an Instructional Designer because it give you a guideline to work from. It is the backbone upon which the class that you are creating can be built.

The company I work for, JWA Consulting, works with all adult learners. Most of our learners have post-secondary degrees. They are doctors, nurses, and directors in hospitals and are used to excelling in school. The Alignment chart list the terminal and enabling objectives for each module. Knowing the type of learners we work with it is very important to get these learning objectives right. Our learners are very detail oriented high achievers.

This chart also helps the instructors of the course in making sure that they are engaging with the participants and facilitating the participants learning.
